What do most agentic AI courses expect you to know?
Google shows seven different courses on its first page for “agentic ai course” in the UK. Four ask for Python, two are developer paths on Google Cloud and GitHub, and one is a leadership programme for senior professionals. None of them teaches someone who doesn’t code to build agents on their own tools.
What the 7 first-page courses for “agentic ai course” ask for
James built this course on his own work: 10 years as CEO of a startup, Encore Musicians, then growth work at ElevenLabs. He has since trained 500+ people from 200+ companies to build agents and automations.
What will you build in four weeks?
Your first agent and the notes it works from
A folder of context files about you and your work that any agent can read (your personal second brain), then safe connections to the tools you use most through MCPs, APIs and CLIs.
Skills and agents that run on a schedule
Workflows you write once and reuse. You leave with at least one agent running by itself, such as a morning briefing or a daily revenue check.
Subagents, adversarial review and coding agents
Your agent becomes a manager: helper agents (subagents) do the legwork, and a panel of critic agents checks the result before you see it. Then you write a brief, and Claude Code, Cowork or Codex builds a working prototype or a page to test an idea.
Your team’s second brain, then Demo Day
You grow your second brain into a company one your whole team can draw on. On the final Friday, people show what they built.
In Cohort 2, 24 people demoed working agents four weeks after starting, many of them non-technical when they began. The full curriculum lists every session.
Already building with Claude Code? The advanced Claude Code course is the next step, for builders who want James’s daily setup.
What do you need before you start?
You need to have used AI before, even if that’s only asking ChatGPT questions. You also need a laptop you can install apps on, and a paid Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot plan.
The exercises go step by step, with a build guide for each session. If you get stuck between workshops, there are drop-in Q&A sessions and office hours through the week.
Does it work in ChatGPT or Copilot as well as Claude?
Claude
ChatGPT
Copilot
Yes, you can do the whole course in Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot. James teaches mostly in Claude, which he thinks is the best tool for building agents right now. If you finish in Claude and decide to go back to ChatGPT, what you built moves across.
Can you learn agentic AI for free?
You can learn the concepts for free. Free online courses are theory: they introduce the ideas, tour the features, then leave the building to you. The Agent Accelerator is hands-on: you build real agents around your own goals and the workflows you already run, and you finish with them working.
The live cohort adds what no free course has: people holding you to your build every week, help within the day whenever you’re stuck, and a view of how peers and leaders at AI-native companies have changed the way they work.
| Compared on | Free online courses | The Agent Accelerator |
|---|---|---|
| What you do | Learn the concepts and the features | Build working agents on your own goals and workflows, live |
| Accountability | Up to you | Weekly build checkpoints, a cohort building alongside you, and Demo Day |
| Help when you’re stuck | Documentation and forums | Coaches in breakout rooms during every workshop, same-day answers to any question in the cohort’s WhatsApp group, drop-in Q&A sessions with James, and optional 1:1 coaching as an add-on |
| How AI-native companies use agents | Not covered | See how leading AI-native companies actually use agents inside their teams, in weekly guest talks. Past speakers have come from Granola, Fin (Intercom), Incident.io, Jack & Jill and Rig. |
Is there a certificate, and can you take it at your own pace?
Yes to both. Complete the weekly build checkpoints and you get a certificate with a credential ID and its own verification page. The course runs two ways, and both are on the courses page:
Live cohort
Cohort 5 starts on Tuesday 17 November 2026. Seven live workshops over four weeks, coaches in the breakout rooms, the cohort’s WhatsApp group and Demo Day at the end.
Self-paced
The same course as recordings, build guides and prompts. Start today and work through it on your own schedule, with the same certificate when you complete the checkpoints.
Training a team rather than yourself? James also runs private AI workshops for companies.
Cohort 5 starts on Tuesday 17 November 2026
Seven live workshops on Tuesdays and Fridays, then Demo Day on Friday 11 December. Money-back guarantee: complete the programme, attend every session (watching the full recording before the final session counts), complete the weekly checkpoints, and if you’re still not satisfied you get a full refund. Just ask within 14 days of the final session.
I signed up and opened Claude for the first time. I now have the confidence to play around with Claude Code, connect tools, assign it tasks, and create my own agents. You can be completely clueless when you start. There is no requirement to be an AI expert. I highly recommend signing up to James's cohort sooner rather than later! The one-to-one calls were amazing for ironing out any questions.
