Two or more people using Claude for work should be on Team, not Pro
Paid yearly, a Team Standard seat costs £18 a month, which is £3 more than Pro. That buys more usage than Pro, one bill for the whole team, single sign-on, and no training on your content by default.
You need at least two seats. Give Premium seats to your heavy users and Standard seats to everyone else.
Only people who use Claude for several hours a day need Max or a Premium seat
That rule of thumb is ours, not Anthropic’s. If you know someone works differently, move them to another row in the calculator.
Paid yearly, a Premium seat costs the same as Max 5x. Anthropic says it gives five times the usage of a Standard seat, and a Standard seat already gives more than Pro, so a Premium seat gives at least what Max 5x does. Nothing on the Team plan promises the usage of Max 20x.
Before you move anyone up, check what is eating their allowance. James McAulay pays £200 a month for Claude and rarely hits the limits. Most people hitting limits are paying for the same three things: a bloated CLAUDE.md loaded into every conversation, output nobody asked for, and one enormous thread. His free stop wasting tokens prompt fixes all three.
Enterprise only makes sense above 150 people, or for audit logs and SCIM
Enterprise costs US$20 a seat a month, billed yearly, with a 20-seat minimum. The seat includes no usage, so Anthropic bills every token on top at API rates.
The Team plan stops at 150 people. Below that, Enterprise is worth it for the features only it has: audit logs, role-based access and SCIM, which adds and removes users automatically.
What teams ask about Claude pricing
How much is a Claude subscription in the UK?
Claude Pro costs £18 a month, or £15 a month if you pay £180 for the year. Max costs £90 a month for five times Pro’s usage, or £180 for twenty times. Anthropic shows UK prices with 20% VAT included, while its US dollar prices are before tax.
Is Claude Code included in Pro?
Yes. Claude Code comes with Pro, both Max plans and both Team seats. What changes between plans is how much you can use it: Max gives five or twenty times Pro’s usage in each five-hour session, and a Team Premium seat gives five times a Standard seat.
Is Claude Max worth it?
Max 5x costs £90 a month, five times the monthly price of Pro, for five times the usage. It also adds priority access when Claude is busy and $100 a month in API credits for building on the Claude Platform. It pays off for someone who runs out of Pro’s allowance most days, and it’s money wasted on someone who doesn’t.
Can a team mix Standard and Premium seats?
Yes. Anthropic lets you give Premium seats to the people who need more usage and keep everyone else on Standard. Each person has their own limits, so one heavy user running out doesn’t stop anyone else. Paid yearly, the two seats cost £18 and £90 a month.
How many people do you need for Team or Enterprise?
Team is for 2 to 150 people. Enterprise needs at least 20 seats, billed yearly at US$20 a seat a month, and the seats include no usage: Anthropic bills every token on top at API rates.
Is the free plan enough for work?
Anthropic describes Free as covering everyday questions, and Pro gives at least five times as much usage in each session. For daily work most people need a paid plan, and James McAulay’s course asks for one: the free tiers won’t get you through it.
James trains whole teams to get more out of every Claude seat
Buying seats is the easy part. James McAulay runs hands-on Claude workshops for teams, in person or online, and everyone leaves with at least one working agent for a real task from their week.
He also teaches people to use Claude efficiently, which keeps your usage costs down and means fewer people hit their limits and need a bigger plan. He has trained 500+ people from 200+ companies.
