Claude Team’s prices in pounds include VAT, unlike ChatGPT Business and Copilot
In pounds, Claude Team’s prices include 20% VAT and ChatGPT Business and Microsoft 365 Copilot prices don’t, so take the VAT off Claude’s price, or add it to the others, before you compare them.

Microsoft’s euro prices are its Irish ones. OpenAI’s price page doesn’t say whether its prices include VAT, so the ChatGPT Business row comes from OpenAI’s checkout, read 26 to 28 October 2026. In pounds, OpenAI’s personal Plus and Pro plans do include VAT.
What teams ask before buying Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot seats
Why does Claude Team cost more than ChatGPT Business in pounds?
The difference is VAT. A Claude Team Standard seat is £18 a month paid yearly, and Anthropic’s UK prices include 20% VAT. A ChatGPT Business Standard seat is £15 a month paid yearly, and OpenAI shows Business prices before VAT. Take the VAT off Claude’s and it’s £15. In dollars, where neither price includes tax, both are $20 a seat.
When does a team need an Enterprise plan instead?
Anthropic sells Claude Team to teams of 2 to 150 and Claude Enterprise from 20 seats, so a team in between can pick either, and the Claude Enterprise calculator puts both bills side by side. ChatGPT Business is for teams of 2 to 200; above that, OpenAI prices ChatGPT Enterprise only through its sales team, so ask them for a quote. Microsoft’s Business plans stop at 300 users, and the Copilot calculator prices the add-on for an enterprise plan too.
Do these calculators work out API or token costs?
Only the Claude Enterprise one. Anthropic charges Enterprise at US$20 a seat a month plus usage at API rates, so that calculator estimates the usage from how many people do code work and how many don’t. The other three price the monthly seats on Claude, ChatGPT Business and Microsoft 365 Copilot. API use outside those plans, such as an app your developers build, is billed separately, and none of the calculators estimate it.
Does the Copilot calculator cover GitHub Copilot?
No. It prices Microsoft 365 Copilot, the assistant inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams. GitHub Copilot is a separate product for writing code, with its own prices.
Can I share a result with my team?
Yes. Once you change an answer, the calculator puts your numbers in the page address, so anyone you send the link to sees the same result. None of the calculators asks you to sign up or give an email address.
James trains teams to get more from the AI seats they already pay for
James McAulay runs hands-on AI workshops for teams of 10 to 200, in person or online, in Claude or ChatGPT, whichever your team already uses. Everyone leaves with agents getting work done for them.
He has trained 500+ people across 200+ companies.
See team workshopsBefore the accelerator I was a basic ChatGPT user. The course completely changed how I work with AI. I now use Claude throughout my working day, completing tasks through agents via dictation which then utilises other apps. Highly recommend.
